- The Volunteer Fire Department. They were pretty jazzed to have their shiny red truck actually out doing some things.
- The people up against the stage, I didn't get right into the mix, but they were feeling it - and making up for those in the back who were feeling the cold.
- The Sam Roberts Band. My dad once speculated that he might be the hardest working guy in Canada. Now I'm a believer. They played enough to collect their cheque from the satellite radio company that brought them here, then they played a heartfelt encore during which they briefly took the lead from the fire department.
- The Smithers Yuppies. The place had a bit of a farmers-market-with-an- edge feel to it. The talent on stage was home-grown and 55% organic. Also many got to ride their bikes home after the show, right next to all of us lousy motorists.
- The Trews. I didn't catch much of their set, they didn't appear quite as pumped as the final act, but I heard rumours that they were in awe of the scenery when they landed at the airport here this morning. The Bulkley Valley does give a nice first impression.
- The RCMP. Don't let the six spot fool you, they were probably having a pretty sweet time, catching dopers, roughing up hippies. The local detachment is in need of some OT and good coffee chatter in the morning.
- The People At The Back. Too cold and dark for them.
